This Hoverbike was modeled and rendered in 3Ds Max with Mental Ray, and retouched in Photoshop.
In this piece I was challenging myself to create more organic forms. I based this design off of one created by Colin Furze and a number of references online. I am proud of the forms that I was able to create with this design at this point in my career. One of the biggest things that I learned from this piece is the importance of designing from life, and considering the user’s experience. The majority of this vehicle is based on a cursory sketch that I drew, and I think that it shows. This design incorporates very little of what it would take to operate this vehicle in a realistic manner. It is missing details such as tail lights, a speed dial, or safety considerations, that would help push the realism of this piece to the next level. It also fails to incorporate the manufacturing process that would be involved in the creation of this object. If I were to revisit this project I would probably rework the design from the ground up with those considerations in mind.
